H.E. Paul Fernando Duclos Parodi has been designated as the new Ambassador to the Embassy of Peru in Korea. New Ambassador Paul Duclos, who started working in Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997, recently served as Director General for Multilateral and Global Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, and arrived in Korea in March to assume the new ambassadorship position at the Embassy of Peru in Korea. The relationship between Korea and Peru is generally positive and has been growing stronger in recent years. The two countries have established diplomatic relations since 1963 and have been working together in various areas such as trade, investment, culture, education, and tourism.

South Korea is one of Peru's largest trading partners, and bilateral trade has been steadily increasing over the years. Peru exports mainly mineral products, such as copper, gold, and zinc, to South Korea, while South Korea exports mainly electronics, automobiles, and machinery to Peru.

Both countries have also been promoting cultural exchange and cooperation. South Korea has been sharing its expertise in information technology, while Peru has been sharing its cultural heritage and cuisine. Korean dramas, music, and fashion have become increasingly popular in Peru, and the number of Peruvian students studying in South Korea has also been growing.

The relationship between Korea and Peru is characterized by mutual respect and cooperation, and there is potential for further development in various areas.

Meanwhile, Shin Hyun-doo, Chairman of Seoul City, requested active cooperation of Peru and the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Korea for the 2030 Busan Expo, which Busan is promoting to hold from May 1, 2030 to October 31, 2030, under the theme of 'Great Transformation of the World, Voyage to a Better Future,' and H.E. Paul Duclos responded that Peru was the first country to express its willingness to cooperate in Korea's efforts to host the 2030 Busan Expo.
