Venue: SONGEUN Art Space

Coinciding with the first Frieze Seoul and KIAF, SONGEUN Art Space celebrated their first anniversary with a performative installation “When hammer hits, your head splits like a banana- N°2” (2022) by Swiss-French artists Barbezat-Villetard. The first version of the project took place in California in 2017, where the artists borrowed words from Gertrude Stein’s poem ‘Orange In’ to reinforce the idea of cubist collages.

For their second exhibition at SONGEUN, Barbezat-Villetard came up with their own romantic phrases to meet the concept of “Summer Love” and carved the keywords out on real fruit. The audience is invited to “drink the poetry” by drinking juice made from the fruit!
