The Embassy of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in the Republic of
Korea, is pleased to inform that on December 15, 2017 the film
Stars Wars: Episode VIII – “The Last Jedi” will arrive in all cinemas
worldwide, including Korea. The Embassy of Bolivia is glad to
announce that one the filming locations, found in various countries
around the world, is Bolivia, more precisely “Salar de Uyuni”. For
Koreans, the location of Uyuni sounds familiar, as it has become
a very popular destination among young travelers.
You will notice in the film that the world’s largest salt flat is one of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Salar de
Uyuni, in Bolivia, will be used to depict planet “Crait” as a former
Rebel Alliance base. The salt flat is located in Daniel Campos
Province, in Potosi and walking around in this vast area is indeed
like being on another planet or a desert. The flora and fauna there
are very majestic and you will feel like staying here, forever.
In Uyuni, there are hotels constructed from salt blocks and you
can take photos of the antique train cemetery. You might be
wondering why there are old trains here, on the salt flats. In the
past, this place was a distribution hub for minerals, and British
engineers used the trains to transport the minerals up to the ports.
Apart from all these exciting features, the mountains there are
beautiful and a great place to watch the sunrise.
