Republic Day of Türkiye Celebrated in Seoul
Commemorating the 102nd Anniversary of the Founding of the Republic
The Republic Day of Türkiye was celebrated with great splendor at the Grand Ballroom of the Ambassador Pullman Hotel in Seoul. The event brought together ambassadors, government officials, and distinguished guests to honor the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.
In his welcoming remarks, H.E. Murat Tamer, Ambassador of Türkiye to the Republic of Korea, expressed his delight in sharing this meaningful evening with friends of Türkiye.
“It is my great pleasure to celebrate together the 102nd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye,” he said. “On this special night, we proudly recall the deep-rooted heritage and modern values of our Republic, as well as the profound friendship we share with the people of Korea.”
He went on to recall that 102 years ago, under the visionary leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Turkish people declared their determination for independence to the world.
“Founded on the principle that sovereignty belongs completely and unconditionally to the people, the Republic of Türkiye was established upon the ideals of freedom, justice, modernization, and progress,” he stated.
Ambassador Tamer emphasized that under the outstanding leadership of President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye continues to stride confidently into its new century — the “Century of Türkiye.”
“We are advancing firmly with a strong democracy, a dynamic economy, and an active foreign policy aimed at regional peace and global stability. Türkiye continues to pursue diplomacy that values peace, justice, and human dignity,” he said.
He also highlighted the enduring friendship between Türkiye and Korea:
“The friendship between Türkiye and Korea is not merely a relationship written in diplomatic documents. It is a brotherhood forged in blood and engraved in history. During the Korean War, Turkish soldiers fought selflessly for Korea’s freedom, thousands of kilometers away from their homeland.”
Today, the two nations continue to strengthen their cooperation.
“Bilateral trade has surpassed 10 billion U.S. dollars, and our expanding collaboration in renewable and peaceful nuclear energy projects will inject new vitality into our relations,” the Ambassador noted.
Concluding his address, he said,
“The 102nd anniversary of our Republic stands as a symbol of pride in our past and firm confidence in our future. On this meaningful day, we honor Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and all our martyrs and veterans with deep respect and gratitude.”
Following her remarks, Ms. Kang Yoo-jin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of Korea, delivered congratulatory remarks celebrating the enduring friendship between the two nations.
The ceremony continued with a special address read on behalf of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye:
“Dear distinguished guests sharing our pride across the world, I welcome you with sincere affection, respect, and love. On this significant day, one of the most glorious moments in our history, I wholeheartedly congratulate the 102nd Republic Day of all our citizens — 86 million people at home, Turkish Cypriots, and our brothers and sisters living abroad. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all friends who share our joy and who have helped cultivate the common garden of civilization built upon shared history and cultural heritage.”
As the celebration came to a close, the atmosphere was filled with warmth, unity, and mutual respect. The 102nd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye not only reflected the pride of a great history but also symbolized a strong commitment to a brighter and more prosperous future — one that Türkiye and Korea continue to build together, hand in hand, as true friends and brothers.
