The International Eurasian Press Foundation (IEPF) has awarded a well-known Korean Turkolog, Professor Eunkyung Oh, with the honorary diploma of "Cultural Ambassador". The Korean scholar for Turkic Studies was awarded this high prize for strengthening friendship and cultural ties between the peoples of the Eurasian space, for her work in translating, studying and promoting the literature and culture of the Turkic peoples as a whole. She has great merits in the study of the cultural heritage and folklore of the Turkic peoples.

Eunkyung Oh is a professor at Dongduk Women's University, director of the institute for Eurasian Turkic Studies, editor-in-chief of the English-language journal of Turkic Studies, consultant of center for intangible cultural heritage of Asia-Pacific under the auspices of UNESCO, member of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences, Seoul City Diplomacy Advisory Committee, Seoul City Multicultural Expert Committee, Ministry of Justice Refugee Committee of Korea and ministerial adviser to the Korean president.

The Journal of Turkic Studies, edited by her, has a strong reputation for conducting joint cultural studies and research between the Korean and Turkic-speaking peoples. To date, she has published more than 150 research papers and 40 books on Turkology issues in various languages.

Among the published scientific researches of the author, who is an honorary member of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan,  "Korean War in Turkish Literature" (Turkish), "Women in XX Century Turkish and Korean Literature" (Turkish), "Comparative Analysis of Turkish and Korean Heroic Epics" (Uzbek and Russian), have a special place in Academic world.

Eunkyung Oh translated Yashar Kamal's "The Legend of Ararat ", " The Legend of the 1000 Bulls", " Memed, My Hawk", “To Crush the Serpent”, Murad Tuncel's "Inanna", Hakan Gunday’s “Little” novels, Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh's collection of poems "Gulustan" into Korean. She also translated the works of many prominent Korean writers such as Ko-Un into various Turkic languages.

Her monograph "Women in twentieth-century Turkish and Korean literature" was published in Azerbaijan in 2020.

Eunkyung Oh is also engaged in social activities. Her research defends Azerbaijan's current position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, reveals the true nature of the January 20 and Khojaly tragedies.

The researcher, who is fluent in the languages of most Turkic peoples, is the author of numerous studies and documentaries about the lives of these peoples.

Currently, the Turkish World Encyclopedia in Korean is being prepared for on-line publication under her leadership of research director.

The award will be presented at the appropriate time after the end of the pandemic restrictions. It should be noted that the IEPF's "Ambassador of Culture" award was previously given to honored artist of Azerbaijan Gochag Asgarov (Azerbaijan), Eleni and Suzana Vugiukli (Greece), Pierre de Tregomena (France) and world-renowned for their extraordinary abilities. It was presented to Uzeyir Novruzov (America), who was included in the Guinness Book of Records
