Wrapping up his successful duty as China Amb. to the Republic of Korea during almost 6 years & 10 months in Korea since presenting credentials at the end of Feb. 2014, China envoy Guohong QIU bid farewell to the Diplomatic Corps as well as Korean friends through his farewell reception held last week in a downtown hotel Seoul.

China Amb. Guohong QIU paid a visit to National Assembly deputy speaker Lee Ju-young and Joo Seung-yong etc. to bid fareweel to them as well including Representative Shim Sang-jeong from Justice Party, according to the National Assembly. Representative Sohn Hak-kyu from the BarunmiraeParty who was on hand to deliver his farewell remarks for outgoing China Amb. Guohong QIU, said China envoy Guohong QIU laid a groundwork for the future-oriented bilateral relations during the function podium.

Former Prime Minister Lee Hong-gu praised that Amb. Guohong QIU played a hidden important role so that President Moon Jae-in can visit China at the end of the year for the attendance of trilateral 3 countries Summit, that is President Moon Jae-in, China President Xi Jinping and Japan Prime Minister Shinjo Abe as well as more importantly China President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang’s visits can be arranged to play a leverage role for the denuclearization of the North Korea.

Quoting a phrase, ‘Ground packs after a rain’, Amb. Kim Kun from MOFAT said Amb. Guohong QIU made many efforts for the development of Korea-China relations among many ups and downs during last 6 years & 10 months as China Amb. to Korea such as THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) deployment, to name just a few.

Among Diplomatic Corps., US Amb. Harry Harris couple, Singapore Amb. Eric Teo Boon Hee couple showed up in addition to former President Lee Ki-soo from Korea University, chairman Woo Jong-soo who serves as chairman of Korea-China Economy Association, and The chairman Kim Joon-young who serves as the chairman of the board of directors at Sungkyung Gwan University.
