On the occasion of the 101st anniversary of Romanian National Unity on this December 1, Embassy of Romania hosted its diplomatic reception on Nov. 28th evening several days earlier in a downtown hotel Seoul.

What was most noteworthy among Romania Amb.'s speech, is that high-ranking offcials' visit is expected including Prime Minister and President of Romania next year, according to Romania envoy Mihai Ciompec.

Romania envoy said including parliamentary diplomacy, the prospect of culture & people-to-people exchange between the two countries is very bright, with both countries' diplomatic ties 30th anniversary next year as well as in terms of strategic partnerships between the two nations.

Currently, Korea is the sole strategic partner of Asia for Romania whereas Romania is the sole strategic partner for the Republic of Korea in South-Eastern Europe region, according to the Embassy of Romania.

Since joining to EU on last 2007, Romania carried out successfully its role of EU Presidency during the first half year 2019, serving as a momentum to develop further Europe agendas with the Republic of Korea. Touching upon bilateral relations between Korea & Romania, Ciompec elaborated on consistently developing relations such as strategic partnership establishment in 2008, 35 times' increasement of trade turnover between the two nations compared with the times of diplomatic ties and last but not least the fact that over 250 Korean companies are doing their business activities in Romania.

According to observers analysis, pro-European incumbent President Klaus Iohannis won Romania presidential elections last month, thereby both nations' diplomatic relations between Korea & Romania are expected to maintain stable cooperative relations further in the years to come as well, with both countries' diplomatic ties 30th anniversary next year as a new momentum.

As regarding Romania's foreign policy, Romania is acknowledged as a credible and predictable partner. The major guidelines established in the past are being carried on in a more active and more creative manner with reference to the relationship with its strategic partners and with the other states, as well as within the organisations Romania takes part in.

Globally, Romania’s commitments are to promote freedom, to consolidate democracy and to respect international law norms. Romania is a steadfast and coherent partner within the organisations it belongs to. We aim at consolidating our role within NATO and the European Union, not individually and as a mere beneficiary but assuming responsibility in complicated geopolitical circumstances and contributing to enforce the European and Euro-Atlantic construction, Embassy of Romania said.
