Recent brilliant multinational stage between Korea & Thailand was without doubt the 30th Korea-ASEAN Commemorative Summit which was held in Busan last month.

Touching upon such stella results of both countries’ recent diplomatic ties, new-accredited Thai envoy Rommanee Kananurak who presented her credentials on Nov. 14th this year, commemorated with Diplomatic Corps. & Thai community in Korea this year’s Thai National Day 2019 as well as Thai Father Day which was called as late His Majesty the King’s Birthday, in a downtown hotel Seoul on Dec. 2nd noon.

Korea’s Fourth Industrial Revolution strategy & Thailand’s 4.0 Policy are assessed to be most promising area for mutual cooperations & partnerships recently, according to deputy minister Yoon Soon-gu from MOFAT who was on hand at the diplomatic reception to deliver his congratulatory remarks on behalf of the government.

In conjunction with such cooperations fields, President Moon said in a Summit Meeting with Prime Minister Prayut last month, “I hope more Korean businesses will be able to participate in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development project as part of the Thailand 4.0 Policy, which promotes the construction of roads, rail lines, and a new airport.”, to name just a few.

In reply, Prime Minister Prayut added that the Thai Government will provide all possible conveniences to Korean investors who excel in innovative industries related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as automobiles, electric vehicles, digital robots and hydrogen-powered vehicles, according to the Embassy of Thailand.

The EEC development plan, a part of Thailand 4.0 Policy, aims to build large-scale infrastructure, foster 12 future industries and attract smart cities by 2021 in three states southeast of Bangkok that were selected as special economic zones to attract foreign investment.

Recalling His Late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX of Thai, who passed away on 13 Oct. 2016 to mind, new Thai Amb. Rommanee Kananurak underscored to the audiences at the reception venue: “He had made a lifetime dedication to the improvement of his people’s livelihood and the sustainable development of his nation”.

In particular as hailed as “the World’s most hard-working monarch” and “the Development King”, the late King’s vision, based on his own lifelong experiences and Buddhist inspiration, has been called “Sufficiency Economcy Philosophy(SEP)”, according the new Thai envoy.

This framework philosophy, stressing on responsible consumption, awareness, reasonableness and resilience, and a more balanced, holistic and sustainable approach to development, had guided His Majesty’s development works in Thailand for many decades, and is now his living legacy not only to the Thai nation, but to humanity as a whole.

Since the launch of new Thai Government on July, this year, President Moon has visited Thailand for the first time as a foreign State Head, signaling a very close friendship & long partnership between Korea & Thailand, according to the Blue House. Accordingly, President Moon Jae-in made an official visit to Thailand and subsequent state visits to Myanmar and Laos for six days from September 1 to 6. During his official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand September 1-3, President Moon and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha held a summit and discussed how to promote substantive bilateral cooperation to create new growth engines. To facilitate the success of the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit and Mekong-Korea Summit slated for late November this year in Busan, President Moon asked for collaboration from Thailand, the Chair of ASEAN for 2019 at that time.
