As regarding COP25 Madris, the Government of Chile made the decision not to host COP25 after a long evaluation process, thereby Spain offered Chile President Pinera the possibility of the Conference being held in Madrid, according to the Embassy of Spain.

By organizing this COP, Spain reaffirms its commitment to the climate action agenda, Spain Amb. Morro said, adding organizing a summit of these characteristics is an important challenge and effort, but there is a greater need for a responsible response to the climate change emergency situation that the planet is going through.

Refering to the fact that he heard Korea also is suffering from China dust problem or air pollution etc., Morro pointed out that all countries in the world have their responsibilities with regard to environment problems including climate change.

The COP25 will take place from Dec. 2 to13, 2019 at IFEMA, Madrid with extensive experiences in organizing international & national events.

According to Spain Embassy diplomats who joined to the briefing, the COP involves holding 3 different conferences. The 25th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(COP25), the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties as a Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol(COP-MOP15) and last but not least the 2nd session of the Conference of the Parties as a Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement(CMA2).

Touching upon ASEM Meeting also which is crucial for promoting dialogue & communications between Asia & Europe countries, Morro mentioned separately that the coming ASEM Madrid will be a crucial opportunity to underline once again the importance of strengthening ties between the 2 continents and for ASEM to demonstrate its unique role in a fast-changing world. Being a key building block for a rules-based international order and a vital platform for dialogue between Asia &Europe as demonstrated at 12th ASEM Summit (ASEM12), ASEM must evolve and move with the times to maximise its potential and seize new opportunities, he added.
