-if Korea joins to Pacific Alliance as an associate member country sooner or later, commerce and investment are expected to be doubled: Mexico envoy

Mexico envoy Bruno Figueroa took advantage of his country's 209th Independence Day reception as another opportunity to harden the two nations' alliance.

As pivotal members of MIKTA (A backbone middle power consortium comprised of Mexico, Indonesia, Korea, Turkey and Australia), the two countries have been sharing middel power countries' issues to voice their opinions, shadowed by G7 countries for example. Against this backdrop, the two nations have been expanding their relations from existing trade commerce which surpassed 20 billion dollars up to recent MIKTA parliamentary diplomacy in multidimension directions such as culture exchange, security, human rights, development and environment, to name just a few, said Figueroa.

From the perspective of economic cooperations, a total of 420 Korean enterprises are active including Samsung Electronics and Kia Motors in Mexico currently, creating 150,000 peoples' job creation effects by investing 6 billion dollars.

Moreover if Korea joins to Pacific Alliance as an associate member country sooner or later, commerce and investment are expected to be doubled because both countries will have substantial meaning's FTA, the Embassy of Mexico said.

From the perspective of cultural exchange, Mexico is at the forefront for Korean Hanllyu to advance into the Central & South American continent because there are a total of 80 Hanllyu fan clubs as well as a total of 160,000 Hanllyu fans there, according to the Korean Embassy in Mexico.

From the perspective of politics, it is being said that Mexico President Lopez Obrador started "Mexico's Fourth Transformation", a social movement to eradicate corruption and alleviate poverty, while striving for social justice and equality.

In conjunction with such Mexico Government's national policy, deputy minister Yoon Soon-ku from MOFAT who was on hand to deliver his congratulatory remarks on behalf of the government, said: 'There are many rooms for the two countries to cooperate because Mexico President's Fourth Transformation coincides with President Moon's human-oriented national economy policy in many ways". For reference, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa paid a visit to Mexico President Lopez Obrador on the occasion of his President inauguration as special envoy on behalf of President Moon on Dec. last year.

Korea and Mexico have been continuing close politial dialogue, education as well as culture cooperation and exchange within bilateral relations, regional and multinational field since the two counterparts constructed their strategic partnerships for the common prosperity in 2005.
