French residents society's dynamism in Korea & their enduring friendship with Korean society are the backbone of both countries partnership, said French Amb. Fabien Penone who is scheduled to leave Korea at the end of August this year, hosting the 2019 French Bastille Day reception in his residence, located in Hapdong, Seodaemoon-District Seoul on July 13th noon.

Expressing his deep appreciation for the hospitality & frendship the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. as well as Korean partners have shown during last 4 years, Penone also didn't forget to point out: 'The two countries' partnerships have been deepened with Summits President Moon & President Macron had since Argentina G20 Summit, President Moon's France State Visit on Oct., last year and last but not least this year's Osaka G20 Summit, Japan".

For reference regarding the most recent two counterparts Summits in Japan, President Moon Jae-in, on the sidelines of the G20 Osaka Summit in Japan, held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at a bilateral summit conference room on the first floor of INTEX Osaka.

President Macron began by saying that he is in full support of President Moon’s efforts for regional stability and the peace process on the Korean Peninsula, adding that France is prepared to provide everything needed to that end, according to the Blue House. President Macron also showed keen interest in the situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula, including the North Korea-U.S. talks.

Concerning climate change issue, President Macron expressed his understanding and support for the Korean Government’s endeavor to respond to climate change and his wish to see the two countries work together on reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

So Penone said that the successful outcomes of the two nations' Summit meetings will provide for the two nations with a roadmap which will pave the way for the future of the two countries, referring to 4 priority cooperative tasks.

Firstly, as the first priority cooperation task between the two countries, French envoy Penone said it is first of all to increase cooperations in the international arena between Korea & France. Touching upon positive changes on the peninsula politically & in terms of security standpoint, French envoy said Korea's diplomacy & economic standing have been remarkably increased internationally and in that regard, France's cooperation need with Korea was more inevitable as the G7 Presidency to solve world challenge tasks for France.

Secondly, Penone mentioned to increase economic partnerships between Korea & France as another priority cooperative task. During the last decade, both countries's trade scale has doubled and Naver & Samsung 's new technology investments into France have accelerated, according to Penone.

Thirdly, Penone attached another special importance to increasing cooperations in the fields of university education & science education between the two counterparts as third priority cooperative task. Pointing out that our future depends on such areas, French universities are eager to receive more many Korean studuents in the fields of science & engineering areas, he added, saying that France is one of Europe countries which receive the most Korean university students. Last but not least, French envoy Penone touched upon the increase of cooperations in the fields of security & national defense area as the last cooperative priority task between the two nations.

The French National Day commemorates the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on July 14th, 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14th July 1790.
