-Already IGC rose as the heart of Northeast Asia, serving as a cradle for talented minds from all over the world

Following its past 3 consecutive years, IGC(Incheon Global Campus) greets once again the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. to its campus as part of their publicity activities to boost the image of the campus as well as to faciliate the recruitment of talented students & professors from around the world on April 24 this year.

Already IGC rose as the heart of Northeast Asia, serving as a cradle for talented minds from all over the world and as a joint campus for prestigious global universities such as the State University of New York, George Mason University Korea, Ghent University Global Campus Songdo, and last but not least The University of Utah Asia Campus, to name just a few, according to its Songdo Incheon Global Campus Operation Foundation who operates its campuses.

In a nutshell, ICG settled down as the leading hub of global education, inspiring brilliant minds to grow closer to their dreams.

As regarding recent ICG 4 campuses’ movements, first off SUNY(The State University of New York, Korea) celebrated a convocation ceremony for the spring semester of 2019 at the IGC Auditorium recently.

Welcoming the highest number of students who will be committed to furthering their discipline in the 5 departments of SUNY Korea (Technological Systems Management, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics & Statistics, Mechanical Engineering and Business Management), president Kim Choon-HO of SUNY Korea encouraged students during his speech: “Over the next 4 years, our students will go beyond the existing education system and experience boundless opportunities and learn to tackle challenges at the global level”.

SUNY Korea opened its doors in 2012 as a part of a national project by the South Korean Government. As the first U.S university to offer both undergraduate and graduate courses in Korea, SUNY Korea started with Stony Brook University before adding the prestigious fashion programs from Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in 2017.

Both universities offer the same curriculum and degrees as one would receive on the New York home campus. Upon graduation, students earn their degrees either from Stony Brook or FIT.

GMUK(George Mason University Korea) also hosted recently its commencement ceremony for Spring 2019, welcoming some 160 students, including new students and exchange students from the Fairfax Campus who have arrived from 15 different countries, ready to join the faculty and the campus filled with diverse backgrounds to create an even more innovative and global environment of learning.

In the next 4 years, new students will undertake the same courses and earn the same academic degrees as are found on the George Mason University home campus. In the process, students will embody the Mason idea-innovative, diverse, enterpreneurial, and accessible- in addition to building international networks and benefitting from practical internship experiences.

Thirdly, GUGC(Ghent University Global Campus) is committed to adopting diverse strategies to ensure excellence in faculty, administrative systems, and process innovations to ensure first-class education and administrative services for all students.

Thanks to GUGC’s extraordinary educational curriculum and endeavors to welcome talented students, a total of 426 students have enrolled for the new spring semester, according to GUGC which says that such continued success is expected to contribute to the growing number of returning students in the years to come.

Last but not least, Utah Asia Campus also welcomed largest class since its inception in 2014 for this spring semester, according to its Utah Asia Campus.

“We are excited to welcome 126 new Utes to the Utah Asia Campus. This is the largest one-semester intake of freshman since the opening of the campus in 2014. Watching these new students grow in their relationship with the University of Utah community and eventually transition to the Salt Lake City campus is rewarding for all of our faculty and staff,” said Todd Kent, Chief Administrative Officer.

According to Dean of Students Randy McCrillis, “The Utah brand is growing in its appeal among South Korean students. Students are realizing that they can study at a world-class university and stay close to home for 3 years, yet have an international experience in the US. Everyone is enthusiastic about the future.”
