-French-speaking region’s growth power consolidates the standing of French language: Rewanda Amb.

Until 2050, French language users are expected to increase to 700 million peoples.

Currently, a total of 29 nations in the world use French as their official languages. French is learned secondly much in the world.

Korea joined to this Francophonie organization on Nov. 2016 and a total of 88 countries are its members.

To herald the start of the Francophonie Festival in Korea, its Francophonie Promotion Committee within Korea hosted an opening reception in a Gangnam area hotel while Francophonie envoys were on hand including France Amb. Fabien Penone, Belgium Amb. Peter Lescouhier, Lebanon Amb. Antoine Azzam, Romania Amb. Mihai Ciompec, Senegal Amb. Mamadou Gueye Faye, Tanzania Amb. Matilda Masuka, Morocco Amb. Chafic Rachadi, Canada Amb. Micheal Danagher, Cote d’Ivoire Amb. Sylvestre Kouassi BILE, Tunisia Amb. Nabih EL ABED.

Through her welcome remarks, Rewanda envoy Mme. Emma Isumbingabo who serves as chairwoman of the Francophonie Promotion Committee within the Republic of Korea said: “French-speaking region’s growth power consolidates the standing of French language, communication language of different cultures as well as an international & future language”.

Chief programs of this year’s Francophonie in Korea include African housing construction lecture at Indeok University on March 26, Francophonie Movie Festival from March 23 to March 31 at the Seoul History Museum, Francophonie Economy Seminar on March 28 at Korcham, Geoje’s France on March 23 etc.
