-a festival of Polish culture at the heart of Seoul
On April 30th 2017 at the Cheonggye Plaza the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Korea is
organizing a full day fair “Polish Day”.
“Polish Day” will be a festival of Polish culture at the heart of Seoul. For one day, Cheonggye
Plaza will be transformed into colorful family fair inviting all Seoulites and tourists to discover
Poland. The event will promote Polish culture, language as well as various Polish products
available on Korean market by opening 15 different booth. Seven booths will be dedicated
solely to Polish products including: cosmetics, pottery, aronia and a variety of confectionery.
“Polish Day” will offer a chance to find out more information about traveling to and around
Poland from travel agents and LOT Polish Airlines representatives, who will also be present at
the event. One of special attractions of the day will be lottery draws, where participants will
have a chance to win round-trip tickets to Warsaw sponsored by the LOT Polish Airlines.
Visitors will be able to enjoy delicious Polish food and look up the recipes in the specially
prepared section on Polish cuisine. Fans of Classic music will also be able to test their skills i
n the “Play Chopin, Win Chopin” Contest, by playing piano which will be specially set up in the
square for the event. There will also be a section dedicated to literature presenting Polish
works translated to Korean, including recently published series “The Witcher” by Andrzej
Sapkowski, as well as Korean novel about Poland “Eleventh Empty Seat in Warsaw” by
Kim Dae-Un.
The festival will also offer a great opportunity to learn more about Polish language, as well as
to find out details about studying in Poland. University students from the Polish Department
at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies will be there to give an insider’s advice and explain the opportunities that come with studying Polish Studies. Throughout
the day students will also give performances showcasing Polish traditional costumes and folk
dances.
The event will begin at 10.00am and end at 5:00pm.
