“It is a little regrets that Turkmenistan can not unfortunately have any positive leverage on settling the pending issues such as North Korea’s denuclearization on the Peninsular.
‘Heart of the Great Silkroad’
Turkmenistan can be summarized like this, in a nutshell.

On the occasion of such new construction phase, Turkmenistan
Amb. Myrat Mammetalyev held a briefing with local journalists
regarding the main directions of foreign policy of Turkmenistan
and prospects for cooperation with the Republic of Korea in his
Embassy, located in Jangmunro, Yongsan district Seoul on Feb. 23rd morning.
Neutrality in the foreign policy of our country has become the
basic principle of relations with the states of the world, he
asserted. Firmly adhering to this status, Turkmenistan actively
develops its relations with other states, aimed not only at
ensuring internal development of the country, but also maintaining
regional and international stability, ensuring sustainable
development and progress of human civilization, according to Myrat.
Turkmenistan attaches special importance to energy, ecology,
human development, transport etc. to take advantage of its
geographical edge.
For example in the field of energy, possessing huge reserves
of hydrocarbon resources, Turkmenistan actively promotes
international cooperation in this direction. So Turkmenistan’s energy strategy is based on the principles of diversified energy
supplies, expansion of their geography, involvement of more
countries interested in participating in international energy processes.
According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan at present, in addition
to the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline, the three more export gas pipelines have
been laid in the direction of Iran(1997, 2000, and 2010) and the largest trans-Asian gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China through
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was opened in 2009.
Feb. 23, 2018 is a special day for Turkmenistan because new
construction phase of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline is being launched.
Transport diplomacy is another important direction of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy which has global significance. So Turkmenistan
is also implementing practical measures to develop regional
and international transport infrastructure, according to Amb.
Myrat. Recently, such projects as the construction of the railroad
Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-
Tajikistan, the international Seaport in the city of Turkmenistan
have found practical implementation.
With regard to cooperations with the Republic of Korea, Amb.
Myrat noted that The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic
Games was over, adding today, sport is viewed as an important
factor, promotinhg rapprochement of people and nations,
sustainable development.
In bilateral relations, it is encourging that Turkmenistan
attaches great importance to cooperation with the Republic
of Korea which has significantly intensified in recent years in all
areas, but it is a little regrets that Turkmenistan can not
unfortunately have any positive leverage on settling the pending
issues such as North Korea’s denuclearization on the Peninsular from the point of South Korea.
