The Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition “Sport in Latvia” was 

held at the National Assembly to commemorate Latvia Founding 

100th anniversary this year as well as Latvia’s participation in the upcoming PyeongChang Winter Olympic 

Games next month in Korea.

Sport in Latvia Photo Exhibition, held at the National Assembly  which will run from Jan. 23-Jan. 25.

Rep. Sim Ki-joon, who serves as chairman of the Korea-Latvia Parliamentary Friendship Group, some envoys such 

as Ukraine Amb. Olexander Horin, Georgia Amb. Otar 

Berdzenishi and last but not least Poland Amb. Piotr 

Ostaszewski were on hand to show their friendship & solidarity 

toward Latvia.

Latvia Amb. Peteris Vaivars said that the year 2018 will be a 

historical milestone in cementing bilateral relations between 

Korea & Latvia with many events such as Latvia President’s official visit on Feb. because of the PyeongChang Winter 

Olympic Games, and last but not least its country 100th 

Founding anniversary etc.

With another occasion, on 30 January, the Embassy of Latvia 

will host the book launch for “The Discovery That Never Was” 

written by Mārtiņš Zutis, taking forward a series of events 

dedicated to Latvia’s centenary and promoting Latvian literature in the Republic 

of Korea. This is a historic occasion, a writer Martiņš Zutis 

being the first Latvian author whose work has been printed 

in the Republic of Korea, and turns a new page in bilateral 

cooperation in the realm of literature, said the Embassy of Latvia.
