Late Thailand King Bhumibol Adulyadej laid the groundwork
throughout his exemplary life for a people-centred approach to development for Thailand. Also the late King
put into practice a vision that gives us the keys to achieving the
2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, according to the address
by Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO on the occasion of the conference “Creating
Sustainable Society of Peace”-A legacy of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand”

To commermorate Thailand Father’s Day(Thai National Day) which means the start of a festive season
on December every year, Royal Thai Embassy hosted a reception
last Friday (Dec. 1st) noon held in a downtown hotel while the
reception venue were packed with many invited guests including
Diplomatic Corps., deputy speaker Park Ju-seon from the National Assembly on behalf of the Korean
government as well as Thai residents in Seoul.

First off, touching upon ‘Sufficient Economy’ & ‘Regional Connectivity
Hub’, Thai Amb. Sarun Charoensuwan introduced today’s Thailand. According to Thailand 20 year national strategy (2017-2036), its national strategy is to help Thailand realize vision of:
Thailand as a developed nation with “Stability, Prosperity, and
Sustainability” in accordance with the principles of Sufficiency-
Economy Philosophy (SEP).
The 6 strategies in the national strategy aim to: 1. A strategy for
national Security in all aspects, 2. A strategy for strengthening
national Competitiveness, 3. A strategy for developing and
empowering human Capital 4. A strategy for broadening
opportunities to improve Social equality and equity 5. A strategy
for steering towards a green Economy and society 6. A strategy
for reforming and improving Public administration, according the
Royal Thai Embassy Seoul.

As regarding Korea-Thailand relations, Charoensuwan said that the two countries will
mark their 60th diplomatic ties next year in 2018. The long friendship
and bond between the two countries were forged during the Korean
War period when Thail soldiers fought for the peace and freedom
on the peninsular, Charoensuwan pointed out.
Already in regard to bilateral 60th anniversary next year, Thai Amb.
Charoensuwan was bestowed the Best Amb. Award from The Korea
Culture Ambassador Friendship association, an affiliation Organization
of the NDNnews last May this year.
Currently people-to-people exchanges between the two nations
reaches to 1.68 million,
up 15% compared with previous year and Korea ranks the 6th
position in terms of the largest investor for Thailand.
