VISIT OF THE MAYORS OF MORAAND TURRIALBA TO KOREA
The Embassy of Costa Rica in Korea joined Christiana Figueres and the
Mayor of Curridabat, Mr. Edgar Mora Altamirano, at the Third
Meeting of OECD Champion Mayors for Inclusive Growth (Oct. 19th)
and the Seoul Mayors Forum on Climate Change 2017 (Oct. 20)
hosted by the OECD, C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and
the Seoul Metropolitan Government, ICLEI and the Global Covenant
of Mayors for Climate & Energy, respectively.

The objective of these encounters is to promote coalitions and
global networks between local leaders to take a coordinated stand
against rising inequalities and climate change. The importance of
citizen's participation was also highlighted during the events. Costa
Rican Christiana Figueresacts as Vice Chair of the Global Covenant
of Mayors for Climate & Energy and participated in the opening
plenary session along with Seoul´s Mayor, Mr. Park Won Soon, the Mayor of Paris, Ms. Anne Hidalgo,
and the Mayor of Chefchaouenin Morroco, Mr. Mohamed Sefiani,
who currently act as Board members.
As part of its efforts to promote the collaboration between local
governments of Costa Rica and Korea to exchange experiencesand
good practices, the Embassy has supported this year the
Municipalities of Grecia, Turrialba and Mora. Likewise, our Embassy
will support the Municipality of Curridabatto identify cooperation
opportunities related to “smart cities”, as deemed appropriate.
To promote comprehensive actions in the field of social corporate
reponsability(CSR), the Embassy of Costa Rica received the visit
of Ms. Angela Joo-Hyung KANG, Founder and President of the Global Competitivenss
Forum(GCEF), a non-profit organization and research institute
promoting CSR through
knowledge sharing and strategic alliance building, according to the
Embassy of Costa Rica.
In coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy
of Korea, GSEF develop sresearch projects, trainings, seminars,
dialogues and advisory services related to the development and/ or
development of business and public policies involving wide range of stake holders
Corea Premiere of Costa Rican film at the Busan International
Film Festival 2017
The Costa Rican film“ Violetaatlast”had its world premiere at the 22nd Busan International Film
Festival(Oct.12-21)that took place in Centrum City,Busan. The film director, Hilda
Hidalgo, who travelled to Busan to attend the Festival, expressed
that the film gained the public’s acceptance.“In Busan, people were delighted with Violeta”, she affirmed. The
Embassy of Costa Rica in Korea congratulates Ms. Hilda and everyone
involved in this production for being chosen as part of the official
selection of BIFF 2017. Without a doubt ,a great an dwell-deserved recognition and an excellent opportunity to promote the
film and the artistic quality of Costa Rica at the international level.
