10 ASEAN Ambassadors arredited to the Republic of Korea, hosted
a reception to mark ASEAN 50th Anniversary in a downtown hotel
Seoul on Nov. 2nd evening while Dean Cambodia Amb. Dimanche
LONG spoke about the past, the present and the future of the ASEAN
in conjunction with the Republic of Korea among others.
Since its inception in 1967, ASEAN became a succesful case for
regionalism model alongside the European Union, according to
Dean Cambodian Amb. Dimanche LONG.

As ASEAN reception coincides with President Moon Jae-in's ASEAN official visit slated in the beginning of Nov. this year,
ASEAN reception garnered especial attention while EU Amb. Michael
Reiterer, Australia Amb. James Choi, Canada Amb. Eric Walch, New
Zealand Amb. Clare Patricia FEARNLEY, US Charge d'Affaires a.i. Marc
E. Knapper etc. showed up from the Diplomatic Corps.
Experts from home & abroad predict that President Moon Jae-in's cooperation strengthening with ASEAN including Indonesia
visit as well as ASEAN 3 countries tour will serve as diplomatic
breakthrough. In a stalemate circumstance with ASEAN relations
during last 4 years, ASEAN ambassadors also are looking forward
for President Moon's ASEAN visit to serving as a momentum to pave
the way for new chapter for the future relations between Korea & ASEAN.

not least Laos Amb. Khamsouay KEODALAVONG welcomed Speaker
Chung Se-kyun from the National Assembly, Republic of Korea at the entrance
of the reception venue in addition to invited guests who included
business circle, media and diplomatic community etc.
Speaker Chung Se-kyun said in his congratulatory speech that he
sincerely hopes for
ASEAN to be reborn as a more mature & integrated community
toward the future of the 100th years anniversary, strengthening
strategic partnership between Korea & ASEAN.
ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) is a regional
intergovernmental organisation comprising ten Southeast Asian
states which promotes Pan-Asianism and intergovernmental
cooperation and facilitates
economic, political, military, educational and cultural integration
amongst its members and Asian states.
