The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games remained just one year ahead of its
official start in the upcoming 2018 next year.
Ahead of its official launching, general public and the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. all
together are able to experience PyeongChang Test Events during Feb., March, &
April until April, this year.
The Hello PyeongChang Test Events are the test events programme for the
PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. In total, there are 29
sporting events taking place in the same competition venues which will be used
during the Games.
During Feb. this year alone, FIS Cross-Country World Cup, 2017 FIS Nordic Combined World Cup, FIL 1st International
Training Week, ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating, FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup
2016/17, FIS Snowboard World Cup 2016/17, 2017 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, ISU
Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, World Junior Curling Championships
2017, Viessmann Luge World Cup & Viessmann take place respectively.

The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic
Winter Games, its organizer, explains that the purpose of Test Events are as follows:
-To ensure competition venues are operationally ready, especially the Field of Play
and Timing, Scoring and Results system
-To review operational assumptions and readiness of Functional Areas, delivery
partners and stakeholders

-To test and train venue teams and all venue-related workforce
-To test elements of Games-time reporting process
-and last but not least, to enhance public interest leading to the Games
The test events will be a unique opportunity for athletes and officials to familiarise
themselves with the competition venues and the host region. It will also be an ideal
platform for the public to participate and engage with the events and the Games.
In total, 3,000 athletes are expected to participate in the test events – many of them
coming to Korea for the first time – as well as 1,000 volunteers.
Connecting athletes and spectators heart-to-heart, these test events will ready everyone around the globe for the biggest
celebration of winter sports in the world - the Olympic and Paralympic Winter
Games PyeongChang 2018.

PyeongChang including Korean-wave OST concert, K-Pop singer performance, Hanbok Fashion Show, Winter Olympic
boothes, Korean wave drama experience zone, photo wall, Tourism Olympic Publicity
Talk Show, and last but not least, Jungsun Arirang etc. on Feb. 18th afternoon, 2017
when they have a plan to travel to PyeongChang, Gangwon Province.
