Honorable Chairwoman of the International WeLoveU Foundation
Ms. Zang Gil-Jah, Your Excellencies, distinguished guests, and ladies and gentlemen,
Annyang-haseyo Good afternoon to you.
First of all, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Chairwoman
Ms. Zang Gil-Jah and the members of the International WeLoveU Foundation, on the
occasion of organizing the 17th New Life Concert.
It is a great honor and privilege to be invited and speak to you today.
I have been well informed of the extraordinary and self-sacrificing activities of the International WeLoveU Foundation in the places of
needs, both domestic and afar.
Your vision and principles being the greatest and noblest of human values,
dear Madame Zang, you are carrying various initiatives to promote unity and
friendship among people in the world, with your highest commitment in achieving
these initiatives.
I cannot think of what could be more noble an act than to relieve the suffering
of the innocent lives, by continuing to send food, clothing and medical supplies
to help the needy children and families, through your Emergency Relief Programs.
The Clean World Movement is an advanced environmental initiative, providing a
clean and safe environment, and bringing happiness and prosperity for all who
are living on earth.

Your dedication in bringing hope for millions of children suffering from poverty,
homelessness, hunger, abuse, neglect, diseases and disabilities, through the
Child and Youth Support Program, is truly a noble and humane action.
Furthermore, the International WeLoveU Foundation’s Community Support Programs closely address the needs of vulnerable
populations, disabilities, refugees and migrants, and giving them a chance to
live with essential health and education services, alleviate their distress and give
them hope for the future.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We live in an extraordinary era with huge numbers of people affected by
conflicts and disasters.
According to many reports published by the UN Agencies, the number of
people displaced by conflict and violence around the world is now estimated
as 65 million, with as much as 25 million more being displaced every year by
natural disasters and climatic change, and some 130 million people in need of
immediate humanitarian assistance.
The solutions to these crises are neither simple nor quick, but we can all show
compassion, raise our voices against injustice, work for change, or just go to
the areas of distress to help elderly, children, women and others who need help,
like the International WeLoveU Foundation’s Madam Zang has demonstrated; thank you for the great efforts.
As an ambassador from a country with the ongoing experience of embracing
the refugees with physical and emotional trauma, I can only marvel at the
wonderful works of the International WeLoveU Foundation.
However, what the international community tends to overlook is the fact
that, my country Jordan hosted the largest number of refugees in the world;
Jordan nowadays sheltering more than 2.7 million “registered” refugees,
according to the Amnesty International’s report in October this year.
Today, the Jordanians are sharing their limited resources with approximately 1.4
million Syrians refugees, representing 21% of Jordan’s population.
With the Syrian crisis now entering its seventh year, the reflux of refugees from
Syria has stretched already limited resources of Jordan, particularly water, energy,
finance and social infrastructure.
My government is doing its best to provide critical humanitarian measures
and interventions to meet some of the needs of the Syrian refugees, as well as
the Jordanian people whose lives are also affected by the influx of the refugees
into the hosting communities.
The international community has also helped, but meeting the needs with the
limited resources is too difficult, as Jordan has reached the “saturation point” in
dealing with the refugee crisis.
Therefore, the international community should act collectively in facing the
unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Syria, and support countries like Jordan
which has been carrying the brunt of this burden over the past six years.
Dear Madam Zang, I cannot stress enough of the need for a mother’s unconditional love and encouragement in the international community, as
the International WeLoveU Foundation has wonderfully demonstrated, to take
one step closer to help the Syrian refugee and hosting communities in Jordan.
In this context, I wish the very best for the International WeLoveU Foundation in
the future, in its efforts to make this world a better place with the love and
encouragement of a mother.
Have a pleasant evening and thank you.
