Bilateral relations between Korea & The Russia Federation
were a successful one year when retrospecting this one
year, said top envoy from the Russian Federation Embassy yesterday.
Russia Amb. Alexander Timonin assessed that the 2nd Eastern
Economic Forum held at the beginning of Sep. this year in Vladivostok,
the Russian Federation was an important event to develop bilateral
partnership between Korea & the Russian Federation further in a year-
end gathering of the Korea-Russia Association Friendship
Night held in a downtown restaurant on Nov. 23rd evening.

Touching upon that Korea is one of good partners for the Russian
Federation in the Asia-Pacific region, Timonin added that he expects new results for the
two countries next year.
Chairman Chung Taeik from the Korea Council on Foreign Relations
said that the two nations lie in the relations which need each other
against such backdrops that Russia's Eastern policy and Korea's Eurasia
policy converge. A total of 60 guests from both the Embassy of the Russian
Federation and members of the Korea-
Russia Association joined the gathering. Korea-Russia Association is a
nongovernmental exchange association which was set up with the aim
to develop bilateral ties between Korea & the Russian Federation.
Chairman Kim Hakjoon from the Korea-
Russia Association said that we should develop bilateral relations
with the Russian Federation even deeper & closer for the United Korea as well,
to say nothing of the unification on the peninsula, adding Russia is a strong
force in the international arena which is involved in the affairs of the Korean
peninsula's stability and unification problem directly.
